Guitar Rig 5 — No Sound with Behringer Guitar Link

Update after Windows 10 update — I give up, no solution in sight, but the post below may help you if you still have Windows 7.

What I ended up doing was buying a small Blackstar ID Core 10 amp that I can play with headphones and connect to a laptop. Here is a video about the software I found on YouTube.

Guitar Rig 5 is a great piece of free software that allows you to play guitar through your laptop with emulated amps and effects, but getting it to do this caused me hours of frustration. I looked through forums, YouTube clips, and general searches to no avail. Finally I stumbled upon a solution, and after rebooting my laptop Guitar Rig 5 worked like a charm. While it is still fresh in my mind, I thought I would share my experience in the hope that I will save someone else the frustration I had.

I installed the software and new drivers, but the software wasn’t getting any input from my USB. I tried both my Behringer iAXE USB guitar, and another guitar with Behringer Guitar Link. I downloaded two more drivers from the Behringer website which didn’t correct the problem.

I knew it was not a problem with my cable because I have Native-Instruments Guitar Combos software installed on another laptop, and it worked.

Then I found this driver on the Behringer site (Note: I am using Windows 7 and needed a 64 bit driver.) I installed the Behringer 64 bit driver in the middle.

After I installed it (with my USB guitar plugged into my laptop) I then rebooted.

To my amazement, it suddenly worked perfectly. Here are what my settings look like (there is no sense asking me any technical questions, all I know is that this works for me.)

In the upper left corner of Guitar Rig, click on “File” and select “Audio and Medi Settings.” I used the Behringer USB audio

Then I clicked on the ASIO Config tab and this opened. These are my settings (I am using the USB on the front right side of my laptop.)

Then I clicked on ASIO (and these settings worked)

Then I clicked on the Routing and this is what I found (and it worked)

If you’re having the same problem I hope this works for you. I know how frustrated you must be, but it is great once it works. Good luck!!
